I'm going to New Zealand. I'm writing about how I am going to get there. I will write about what I am doing while I am there. Then, I'll reflect about the experience after. There will also be pictures.

Last Day in Christchurch
Today was my final day in Christchurch, though I will be back through before I leave.
After a slow start to my day, I made my way to Christchurch's famed botanical gardens. The grounds are gorgeous and well-kept. The rose garden, in particular, was quite impressive, even with snow on the ground.
Christchurch is a remarkable city, in my opinion. The damage from the earthquakes (first starting in September, 2010) is evident and ongoing and yet the city carries on. They acknowledge their losses and move forward. There is still sadness of course. When I talk to people I often make mention of how beautiful the city is, and the most common response is, "it was beautiful."
Before coming, most Kiwis were surprised that I had planned on staying here for so long, and they suggested that I move on as soon as possible. I'm glad I stayed; it is a beautiful city.
